Hikers, bikers, birdwatchers, huntersanglers, mushroom gatherers, and others who explore nature by foot, either on- or off-trail, unintentionally may transport invasive species on clothing and shoes. This pathway can spread species such as common crupinagarlic mustardknapweedsspartina, or yellow starthistle between and among natural areas, shorelines, and city parks.

If you’re a trail user, you can help prevent the spread of invasive species by cleaning your personal gear, as well as your dogs or other animals, after each hike.

Visit our page on the Play, Clean, Go campaign to learn more about how you can stop the spread of invasive species while you’re out on the trail.
