The Washington Invasive Species Council and the Washington Department of Natural Resources are proud to announce an upcoming Urban Forest Pest Readiness Workshop at the Woodland Center (John A. Finch Arboretum) in Spokane, WA. This workshop focuses on assisting communities in assessing urban forest pest readiness and planning a path forward to become more prepared. Attendees will receive background information on relevant pests of concern as well as the importance of tree inventories. Additionally, the Washington State Urban Forest Pest Readiness Playbook will be presented as a tool to improve readiness for detections of new urban forest pests, and an example of its application will be introduced. Finally, the workshop will conclude with a field activity around identification of urban trees. Continuing education credits from the International Society of Arboriculture and pesticide recertification credits from the Washington State Department of Agriculture are being requested.
Intended Audience: Any and all urban forestry-related municipal staff, tree care contractors, and anyone who could benefit from learning more about pest readiness! Attendance is limited to the first 30 registrants, so register today by filling out this form.
