The Japanese beetle, a highly invasive pest with more than three hundred host plants, is present in south central Washington. The Washington State Department of Agriculture captured 26,700 beetles in 2024. This webinar will begin with a history of the infestation in Washington along with the impacts this invasive pest poses to residents. Current trapping, control, and quarantine measures will be highlighted. Finally, the webinar will conclude with a call to action and public participation, as the community’s support is critical to stopping the infestation before the Japanese beetle becomes permanently established in Washington. A pesticide recertification credit from the Washington Department of Agriculture has been approved. Register online here.
