Join the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, and Department of Ecology as they share information on their agencies’ roles in the European green crab response that includes more than forty co-managers, tribes, and other partners working together to solve a common problem. Collective action to address European green crab has resulted in the removal of more than 1.5 million invasive crabs since a January 2022 Governor’s emergency proclamation. This webinar will cover the economic and environmental risks posed by European green crab, state agency response actions, progress to date, and lessons learned at local, state, and regional scales. Additionally, speakers will provide a vision of the future through a newly released six-year management plan, which includes recommendations and actions such as ongoing management, key research, and additional partnerships to reach success. The webinar will conclude with how the public can help prevent and stop this invasive species, contributing to the overall effort. A pesticide recertification credit from the Washington Department of Agriculture has been approved. Register for the webinar here.
